A 500-foot wave and what I almost missed
A few years ago I had a dream. I was in a high-rise beachfront condo with my family, watching from behind floor-to-ceiling glass as a wave — roughly 500 feet tall — came directly for the shore below. From my safe, elevated position, I watched it crash over hundreds of people casually relaxing on the sand.
The entire beach disappeared under water. I held my breath, bracing for catastrophe.
When the water receded, not only had everyone survived — they were rejoicing. Transformed. Exhilarated.
My heart instantly shifted from fear to regret. I missed it.
I held onto this dream for years, knowing it carried weight I hadn't yet understood. As I began to awaken to the overwhelming goodness of God and His presence in every human being, the interpretation finally came into focus. My dream wasn't meant to frighten me. It was showing me what my high-tower of fundamentalist religion was causing me to miss.
It was an invitation — to step out of the glass house and onto the shore, where His love would wash over me and transform me from the inside out.
Looking back, I barely recognize the person I once was. But I know it's all part of the journey. My hope is that through this book, more people are released into the awareness that we are all one in Christ.
